Thursday, April 5th

Visionary Spotlight (4 p.m.): 

A showcase of work from the Visions 8 Visionary Panelists featuring a surprise from our Keynote Panelist, Shaofu Zhang. Meet the panelists and discuss their work in a Q and A. 

Opening Night Mixer (6:30 p.m.):

Come together with Visions' filmmakers, scholars, and panelists for food, games, and more at Dig & Dive. Enjoy a game of volleyball, or relax and converse with attendees!

Friday, April 6th

Breakfast Reception (8 a.m.):

Kick off a full day of events by socialize with students and faculty from international undergraduate film programs, while enjoying free breakfast!

Keynote Address (9 a.m.)

Badge holders get the chance to hear from an established filmmaker, Shaofu Zhang, as he shares his journey to success in the animation industry.

Video Race (10:30 a.m.):

Twenty teams square off in a one-hour, one-take filmmaking challenge! No experience required. The Video Race is the perfect opportunity for networking and building community — all while having a heck of a good time!

Video Race Screening (1 p.m.):

Watch as those one shot, one take movies make a splash on the big screen in Lumina Theater.

Film Block One (2 p.m.):

Watch amazing shorts and converse with filmmakers! After an hour and a half of films, attendees are invited to participate in a Q&A with filmmakers. With a selection of documentary, narrative, experimental, and more: experience the best Visions has to offer!

Conference Block (4 p.m.):

Four young scholars challenge the audience with their in-depth analysis of film and discuss topics important to film studies in an inquisitive environment.

Visionary Panel (5:30 p.m.):

Seven film professionals share anecdotes from their careers, offer advice to attendees, and take questions from the audience regarding a range of topics including film production, graduate school, film scholarship, fundraising, internships, first jobs, interviews, and more.

Private Dinner Reception (6:30 p.m.):

Invited guests will attend a private dinner reception with filmmakers and scholars in the Clocktower Lounge. Must present invitation.

Dessert Reception (7:30):

Mingle with visiting VIP guests and socialize with students and faculty from international undergraduate film programs, while enjoying free refreshments!

Film Block Two (8 p.m.):

The second set of excellent undergraduate short films featuring animated, experimental, documentary, and narrative works.

After Party (10:30 p.m.):

Closing it all out with a bang, the Visions After Party provides a night of music, awards, free snacks, photo booth pictures, great people, and lots of fun at the Dubliner Irish Pub in Wilmington, NC!
